Design and layout
Within Foleon quite a lot of people work with layout. Whether they work with the website, Foleon Docs or social media, we think it is good to elaborate on this briefly.
With this in mind, the most important aspect is the correct application of white spaces.
We sometimes compare a piece of content within a layout to a balanced stone wall, where an equal amount of mortar is used between the stones.
In terms of design, we translate that to leaving enough whitespace between content: 25 to 50 pixels.
This provides a calm basis that is necessary for readers to consume the content.
The space outside a cluster of content should be larger. Sometimes even 100 to 400 pixels so that there can be no doubt about which content belongs to what subject.
Chunking copy gives you more freedom to play with the layout and alternate images.
Chunking keeps readers more engaged by surprising them. Plus, it makes the process of creation more fun! You create content islands that you can place freely on a page. Equality in spacing is essential here.
The starting point for the navigation bar is always white
The only exception is on the website, where we may use dark blue. E.g. on a platform page with a dark blue page header.
